Insurer Legal & General surveyed 2,000 people and discovered that the average employee’s “deadline to breadline” was 32 days. More than ¼ said that their savings would last one week or less to maintain their lifestyle. The average employee has just over £6,500 in savings and 23% of those surveyed said they did not save any of their income each month.
